Kenny Netto,
LTR Promotions, Inc.,
Promoter:
Kenny Netto was born and raised in
Prunedale, California. His first
encounter with motorcycles came when his
parents bought him a Honda CT 50cc. At
the time, the family lived on 20 acres, which
gave Kenny plenty of room to ride. Kenny began racing in 1974 when
neighbor, Gordy Sims, convinced Kenny’s
parents to let him race at the Monterey
Fairgrounds Short Track. Kenny won his
first race and was instantly hooked on the
sport. He turned Expert in 1976 and,
racing on his 100cc, Kenny started earning
money with his finishes. He tried
motocross in 1977 with the help of Yamaha of
Salinas and went straight to the Expert class,
bypassing the Novice and Junior classes. After a stint in the Marines, Kenny
returned to racing. In 1980, he entered every
race he could to earn a #1 Black Plate in
District 36. While still pursuing the #1
Black Plate in 1984, he broke his ankle at the
Monterey Fairgrounds Short Track. With
just two races left in the season, he had to
settle for the #2 Black Plate. During
these years, Kenny was still racking up points
to turn Professional. In 1987, Kenny turned professional.
Although he had the talent to race with the
Factory riders, as a Privateer he did not have
the financial backing needed to maintain his
750cc at a competition level with the
sponsored riders. In 1997, Kenny bought
a 250cc Yamaha play bike and returned to
racing. He also became involved in
Vintage racing and won the 1999 Western
Regional Championship. Shortly after
that, Kenny started competing in Hare
Scrambles around the state. In 2007, he
had a bad crash, which took him out of racing
for a year. Kenny now only races a few
select races each year. Kenny works for The Beebe Corporation
as a construction foreman. He and his
wife, Annie, live in the foothills west of
King City, California. |
